Incontinent on the Continent
I almost didn't review this book because of its terrible title, but I decided to do so because it actually is a pretty funny book. It's by Canadian travel writer Jane Christmas, who takes her elderly mother on what was supposed to be a six-week tour of Italy. Her hope is that they will bond and repair some of the difficulties and tensions in their relationship. They both love antiquities and architecture and the trip was meticulously planned around those interests. I really can't say much else without spoiling the fun. I will say that it ended up being a four and a half week-long holiday, and if you've had a lifelong yen to go to Italy, or an idea that you should take your parent on a trip, this book might cure you.
